OK I did it. I finally caved and jumped on the air fryer bandwagon.

At first, I thought it was just another attempt to make diet food since all the marketing screamed “less fat!”

But then I realized that I love crispy food and since I’m not about to waste a bottle of oil every time I want something fried at home, maybe the air fryer was my ticket to quick, crispy deliciousness.

My first air fryer attempt did NOT disappoint!

You are going to FLIP over these zucchini chips! Inspired by my fave Greek restaurant in Boston, Kava Neo-Taverna, they serve fried zucchini with tzatziki and it’s heavenly.

This recipe is my attempt at creating my fave appetizer! But seriously, if you’ve never had fried zucchini with tzatziki, what are you waiting for??

This recipe is easy to make and requires only 10 minutes per batch in the air fryer! Zucchini just got a whole lot more delicious.

Ingredients You’ll Need

breadcrumbs, eggs, zucchini, parmesan cheese, flour, and garlic powder laid out on counter

Notes on Ingredients

Breadcrumbs: I used regular Italian breadcrumbs because that’s what I had on hand but panko would be delicious too!

Flour: I used all-purpose but you could use gluten-free 1:1 all purpose flour as a substitute

How to Make Air Fryer Zucchini Chips

These zucchini chips are ridiculously easy to make. Just slice up your zucchini.

Put your flour, egg, and breadcrumbs into separate small bowls for dipping. Season the flour with garlic powder, salt and pepper. Season the breadcrumbs with parmesan cheese cause everything is better with parm.

Dip each zucchini slice into the flour, followed by the egg, followed by the breadcrumbs.

Place the zucchini in the air fryer basket so they are evenly spaced out, with at least an inch of space between slices (this is key!). If you crowd the basket, they won’t crisp as well.

Air fry at 400 degrees for 10 minutes, or until browned.

Zucchini Chips FAQs

What type of air fryer do you use?

I use a Phillips XXL Air Fryer which has a 3lb / 4 qt capacity. I did a lot of research and asked colleagues and friends for recommendations and this one came out on top. (Affiliate link – at no additional cost to you, I will earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase.)

Is this recipe gluten-free?

No but you can easily make it gluten free by using all purpose gluten free flour or omitting the flour all together and just using egg and breadcrumbs for the topping.

How do you store leftovers?

You can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3-4 days but they are best when eaten right away!

What can you serve with zucchini chips?

I loved this tzatziki recipe from the Kitchn. You could try my beet tzatziki, romesco sauce, or a marinara sauce.
