Let’s be real,

life’s too short to deprive yourself from joy and satisfaction. Redefine what it means for you to be healthy and happy, and start celebrating all that you are.

My Story

You can say I’ve had my fair share of arbitrary food rules and dieting. I’ve obsessed over Weight Watchers points. I’ve counted calories. I’ve made my good food vs. bad food lists. I’ve “eaten clean”. I’ve done elimination diets. As a teenager, I struggled with an eating disorder, so for a long time, micromanaging my food and body gave me a sense of control. It wasn’t until I discovered intuitive eating that I realized my attempts to control were actually controlling me. I let go of the rules, got really curious, and gave myself a lot of space to rediscover what living a life well-nourished meant to me.

I started Kara Lydon Nutrition because I wanted to help others rediscover a joyful love of food. Through my blog, The Foodie Dietitian, I help people find nourishing recipes without a side of guilt and shame or focus on numbers. Through my private practice, we have the privilege of supporting others in their journeys to food freedom and body peace. We strive to create a safe, inclusive space where all bodies are welcome.

the philosophy

Despite the wealth of nutrition and health information that’s out there, most of us have more questions than answers. That’s because having a healthy relationship with food isn’t about how much knowledge you have, it’s about being able to listen to your own body’s internal wisdom. I believe you know deep down inside exactly what is best for your health, but somewhere along the way, your intuition was clouded by arbitrary rules and rigid thoughts about food and health.

Food shouldn’t cause you shame or guilt. You deserve a relationship with food that brings you joy and satisfaction. By healing your relationship with food, you create more space to embrace the beauty of life, and reclaim all that is yours: mind, body and spirit. You can live nourished and celebrate all that is you.

Rediscover a joyful love of food

You don’t need to be weighed down by arbitrary food rules and guilt. Look inward to find balance and peace with food to rediscover joy and satisfaction with eating.

Connect with your inner wisdom

Tune in to your own needs and values, and understand what inspires you to do more in life. Find the connection within to stay mindfully present and balanced, and start to feel whole again.

Be nourished and live whole

Redefine what health means to you, and move away from rigid rules and extremes. Allow your mind and body to live a life well-nourished by encompassing all elements of your health: physical, mental, and emotional.
