Yogi Eats – How to Calm the Mind with Nutrition and Yoga

My very first You Tube video where I introduce you to my new series Yogi Eats where we bridge nutrition and yoga as a means to nourish the body and mind. This week, we explore how to calm the mind with nutrition and yoga.

Hey ya’ll!

Remember when I wrote that Mindful Monday post on how to cultivate patience? Well, I figured out a new way to practice patience! Try editing video in iMovie when you know absolutely nothing about the program. Sure was a test to my patience! But after a few YouTube tutorials and mustering a couple expletives, I finally got the hang of it. So I’m psyched to introduce you today to my first You Tube video! One of my 2015 goals was to start doing more video, and I finally mustered up the courage to get over how weird it is watching yourself on screen and shoot anyways!

My goal for the YouTube channel is to really start bridging nutrition and yoga as a way to nourish the body and mind. Enter the video series, Yogi Eats, where we talk about themes that integrate nutrition/food and yoga. To kick off the series, today we’re talking about a topic I think we can all relate to, that infamous five letter word, known as stress and how a breathing technique and a certain beverage can help to calm the mind and reduce stress and anxiety.

So, watch the video, leave a comment or give it a like, and while you’re there, subscribe to my channel!

Thanks for your support, friends. xo

Contgrats! Well done my RD friend!! Proud of you! Keep it coming!

  4. Congrats! You are so great on camera! Gah, wish I could do this breathing technique but with South Carolina pollen I usually can’t breathe out of one nostril this time of year!

    • Oh my gosh. Thanks, lady! That means a lot! It was so weird having to watch myself as I was editing the video. Haha damn pollen! I have bad allergies to and have to make sure I have a box of tissues nearby when I do this 🙂

  5. Love it! I have heard great things about that breathing technique so I will definitely be giving it a try. I’ve been drinking lemon balm tea but now I can’t wait to make sage tea – yum! Thanks for the great info, Kara 🙂

  6. I learned a lot about sage – thank you for that! Impressive video, Kara!!

I love both of these ideas and need to just do it when I’m stressed or anxious. The breathing technique always calms me down and I love cradling a mug of hot tea.

  7. Yay! Congrats, Kara. Just the thought of a warm cup of herbal tea sounds really calming right now. 🙂

  8. Great job Kara! I learned that breathing technique in one of my yoga classes – it really is very calming and also clearing!

Great video!! I’m making some sage tea tonight! Sounds so delicious!
